Cosmetic Surgery Procedures To Give You A Smoother Body Shape

Everyone wants to look their best, but sometimes, despite a healthy lifestyle and adequate exercise, it can be difficult to get the body shape we seek. For many people, stubborn pockets of fat are a concern and persist, despite healthy changes to diet and fitness levels.

It can also be a case, after extreme weight loss, or following pregnancy, that the body’s silhouette can change and become unfamiliar, leading to a lack of confidence. For some people, it may be the case that a long-standing concern has affected their body image and self-esteem for many years but now they have decided to address it.

For those seeking a smoother, more streamlined body, for whatever personal reason, there are a number of options available now. As a plastic surgeon, it has been interesting to watch innovations develop in the realm of body contouring procedures. New techniques have made surgeries safer to undergo, requiring less recovery time and in many cases offering better results.

However, it is important to note that body contour surgeries often involve lengthy operating times and conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease can cause an increased risk of complications. They are quite big procedures to undergo, so anyone thinking about them should do a lot of research and also make sure to select the right surgeon who is both properly accredited and highly experienced.

Make sure your chosen surgeon has carried out that specific procedure numerous times and if possible ask to see before and after images. It is a big decision to choose to undergo a body contouring surgery, but I find that my patients are very happy with the results. It is no exaggeration to say it can be a life-changing experience.

For the most part they involve the removal of fatty tissue, and in some cases, excess skin where necessary. In the case of extreme weight loss, it is often necessary to remove a lot of excess skin from areas such as the arms and stomach. Two of the most common surgeries are liposuction and the tummy tuck (also known as an abdominoplasty).

Liposuction is an effective body contouring procedure and targets stubborn pockets of fat in areas including the tummy, thighs and bottom, as well as the chin. The treatment smoothens the body’s contours and gives a more defined silhouette. While results need to be maintained through a healthy diet and lifestyle, they can be very long lasting.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, abdominoplasty is quite a common procedure as the tummy is an area that can be of particular concern for a lot of people. It can hold a hard-to-shift pocket of fat, often know as a paunch, and even fit people can struggle to see results in this area.

The abdominoplasty surgery or tummy tuck works to tighten and sculpt the abdomen and the procedure can also be used to remove excess skin if required. It is also possible to tighten the muscles underneath, and the surgery can be combined with liposuction if needed. There is a high patient satisfaction rate with a tummy tuck, in my experience, and results can be very impressive for patients.
